ALLIES is out!

Do you know what that is?

That, dear Plebes, is the cover of the e-novella prequel for Insignia that the wonderful S. J. has written.

And it came out today! (May 7th, if you're in my time zone.)

What's Allies about?

In ALLIES, a 47-page prequel novella to the series, budding genius Wyatt Enslow—intensely loyal and hyperintelligent if occasionally, hilariously, socially awkward—takes center stage as S. J. Kincaid reveals Wyatt’s life before she found her place, and her own inner strength, among her devoted band of friends at the Spire.

source: S.J.'s website

To be honest, the second I saw the word "Wyatt", I full-on flailed with excitement.

So how about you? Are you going to be buying Allies? It's only $1.99! Even if you don't have an e-reader, you can still buy it and read it online. :)

Purchase: Kobo (an indie e-reader/bookstore) || Barnes & Noble || Amazon

If, for some reason, you just can't buy it (and you're legally allowed in your country for these downloads--sorry, I know some countries are incredibly strict with their internet regulations. :( ) don't you worry!

We'll be giving away two copies here soon.

Stay tuned!

Until next time,
Minerva

Another VORTEX Giveaway!

I actually don't know. But, if you entered the VORTEX ARC giveaway that S. J. hosted (and that I blogged about here--where I also explained what an ARC is) last time, then you might have gotten an e-mail from S. J. saying that you won! So go check your e-mails, people! ^.^

Didn't win? THAT'S OKAY. Pitch Dark books (a part of HarperCollins) is giving away TEN ARCs of VORTEX. That's right. TEN.

TEN.

So if you live in the U.S. or Canada, go and enter here before the contest ends on April 8th (You might have to create an account first, but it's very easy and completely free)! 223 people have already entered--don't miss your chance! And if you don't live in the U.S. or Canada, that's okay. Stay tuned, because we're having a giveaway soon of a pre-order! :D

VORTEX ARC Giveaway + Awards Ahoy!

Hey plebes!

Do you see that title?

That's right! S. J. is GIVING AWAY TWO ARCs OF VORTEX! (Signed, too! Wha.)

The link is on her blog, here. I think this is international, but I will check with S. J. to make sure. In the meantime, enter enter enter!

(For those of you who are confused, an ARC stands for Advance Reader's Copy or Advance Reviewer's Copy. It's basically a version of the book that's printed early for specific people like librarians and booksellers and often bloggers, so they can read it and review it or buy a bunch of it for their bookstore before the book is scheduled to release to the public. This means that you get to read the book more than FOUR MONTHS early!!!!)

Oh, and are you wondering why you should be excited for VORTEX? Highlight the space below to read some spoilers. Heh. (I warn you: heart attacks from the oh so insurmountable wait may ensue.)

Tom loses something (or some things) quite valuable to him.
Someone is very shocked by something.
Someone has made a dreadful mistake that comes back to bite him or her.
Some people have a romantic moment while being eaten by a shark.

Yup. Yup. So go enter. Now. :D

Also, INSIGNIA was shortlisted for UK's Waterstones Book Prize! Oh you Brits/Europeans with your fabulous taste.

Stay tuned for awesome new stuff coming in the next few months! (And don't forget to tell your friends about us! Tag @ThePentagonalSpire in a tweet and you may just win something... *winks*)

S. J. Gets A New Design

So, while I was doing my weekly stalking researching of Ms. Kincaid, I realized that she has a new web design up. If you go to her old blog, the link redirects to her new website, which features art by Sammy Yuen, who designed the Insignia covers (as well as one of my favorite covers of all time, The Crown of Embers by Rae Carson)!

Just a heads up, in case you thought SJ disappeared. ;)

Fan Art!

One of my dear friends (Penthesilea, yo), sent this fan art of Medusa to me recently. Isn't it absolutely amazing? I love how Medusa's appearance isn't "beautified" (or "Hollywoodish", ugh). I think it's really startlingly relevant to the raw intensity that accompanies Medusa, and I hope you guys like it, too! :)

If you have any fan art of Insignia you'd like to share (and please do!), just shoot me an e-mail (you can find it in the "Contact" page) with an attachment or link to your DeviantArt file and I'll post it here on the site! ^.^

What do YOU think of Medusa?
